The Poisoned

Movie Review - I know that some people may disagree with me on this; but in reality this movie is just a piece of cake without the strawberry topping on it. I am not a real fan of Thor but I knew him in the comic book as a very powerful super hero with super big ego. Compare to Iron Man or Ghost Rider; his power derive from his mighty hammer, Mjolnir. But his true strength came from his fighting skill and weapon speciality. In this movie, it felt like watching Twilight but with a big hunk of muscle.

The story started when the Frost Giant invaded earth and threaten the Nine Realms. Then came King Odin to the rescue. With so many casualties on both sides, Odin came out in victory and steal the source of the Frost Giant power; the Casket of Ancient Winters. When peace and truce were achieved, Odin tell the tales of war to both his son, Thor and Loki. When they grow up, Thor was made to be king but his ascension to the throne was disturbed when the Frost Giant were trying to steal the casket.

After the incident, Thor went to the Frost Giant planet and wanted to discover the truth even by force. Without thinking, Thor started a riot and all hell was broke lose until his father Odin rescued them. But the long time truce was broken, and both side were ready for war. Fill with anger, Odin took away Thor's power and hammer and cast him away to earth. Accidentally, He was later discovered by a group of scientist led by Jane Foster. And the rest you must discover it yourself when you watch the movie.

There are certain parts of the movie that I felt so cheesy. How did a strong headed person become a soft hearted person in an instant? Is it because Thor was in love? That aspect in the movie that I could not get it. Compare to Iron Man 2, the romance was quite little but some part of the scene showed how Tony Stark fell in love bit by bit for his secretary. In this movie, he is just showing the constellation to Jane then everything was cheesy.

The the worst part is the battle sequence. A small town was attack by the guardian and Sif and the Warrior Three was easily defeated? This was just to give way to Thor regained his senses and power. Anyway, it is not all that bad. But I do admit the humour in this movie is really good. Part of the movie, I do laugh a lot especially the part Thor was ran over by a car - TWICE! It was hillarious.

Conclusion - The movie was not that bad though. I do admit I love the reimagine of Asgard and the clothing props were excellent. The acting was also great (in a sense). The only weakness in this movie is the cheesy romance and the action sequence. I think this movie will not be like another Spider-Man or Iron Man and not that worst as Ghost Rider or The Hulk. I prefer this movie is like the 2008 Incredible Hulk. This movie is just a taste of what to come for The Avengers movie that is coming in 2012 soon. Next up, Captain America.

Movie Review - Well, I am truly excited because after a few months of lack of inactivity, I am truly back. I guess having a bad connection speed is better than nothing at all. Anyway, I have watched this movie with my fiancée but almost half way to the end, the cinema had a major problem with its reel. But I have the chance to watch it again and this is my review.

The story started where Fast and Furious (2009) ended. If anyone remember the last movie, we saw at the end that Dom was being rescued by his friends. After those events, the three of them became the most wanted fugitive on FBI list. Dom went separate ways to avoid attention while Mia and Brian went on their own. They were reunited with their old friend, Vince. Vince offered them a job to steal some high profile car in a train. They were also reunited with Dom at the train. But things turn out bad when Dom realize that one of the bad guy only interested in taking one car, a Ford GT. After things went sour, the three of them found (including Vince later on) why the bad guys interested in the Ford GT instead. And the rest is up to you to find out.

Anyway, the story is quite interesting than the previous Fast and Furious series. It emphasize more on action and human relationship rather than showing off the ride or having a street race. It makes us knowing the characters even more than usual. Make me felt like the first Fast and Furious. Not just they become the prey for the FBI; they were also hunted by the biggest drug cartel who own the police force in Brazil. After being reunited with certain characters from the series including Han Seoul-Oh (Sung Kang), Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson), Tej Parker (Ludacris), Gisele Harabo (Gal Gadot), Tego Leo (Tego Calderón) and Rico Santos (Don Omar); the movie started to become interesting. Not just that, but being hunted by the US DSS agents led by Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) bringing a new fresh look in the series.

The car action is limited to this time around. There are no more neon and only limited to one street racing scene. The rest is all action sequence. But I do love the car in this movie, including the Porsche 911 GT RS3, Ford GTToyota Supra, Nissan 350Z/370Z, Koenigsegg CCXR, Nissan GTR V-Spec, Lexus LFA, Dodge Charger and Dodge Charger R/T. It is a car heaven although not all of these cars were in the action scene. It was really nice to see the greatest and the latest.

Conclusion - Most people will agree with me that Fast Five is the one of the best in its series (and Tokyo Drift is the worst). The action and the storyline is so terrific that it overshadowed the original. But without the first movie, there won't be Fast Five. Hint: There is also two cameo appearance by one of the original cast at the end of the movie. Go look for it.

More Than Meet The Eyes - For your information, when I was 6 years old; I was a Transformers enthusiast. I still remember the time when Hua Ho Sengkurong and Moh Seng (a small shop in Kupang, Tutong) use to sell B$5.00 Transformers toy kit. I love to assemble them and have fun with it. My first big Transformers was Superion (Arielbots) and Tracks (G1). It was 1985 back then and Transformers and Go-Bot was on RTB Channel.

But the addiction did not stop there. When I was in Form 1, I did remember buying Devastator (Decepticon), Brain Caesar (Victory) and Landcross (Victory). I was not a rich kid back then but all those money come from collecting Hari Raya money packet. But all those memory of collecting Transformers fade away when I was growing up. It was because the love I had for video game instead. Even in the late 90's, my younger brother bought himself a Cheetor from the animated series, Transformers Beast Machines. But he was more of a Captain Planet and Pokemon type of kid (gosh, kids during that era misses a lot of the good stuff back in the 80's).

Sunday, 15^th May 2011 - It had been so long since I have updated anything on this blog. I am so sorry as I am so busy lately. Besides Internet connection had been really bad and I really cannot do anything with it (thanks eSpeed). By the way, a few weeks before this event; my colleague Suzy ask me and my fiancee to join her and her husband in the NBT Treasure Hunt. One of her close friend were not able to attend the event, so she need a new team member instead.

So I ask my fiancee, if she was free for the event itself. She said yes. Then; on last Friday we went to the International Convention Centre in Berakas for the briefing. The presenter had taught us a few tips on how to solve the clue. It was very hard and only people with highly logical skill will be able to solve it. But I taught that it would be simple if we all work together.

But when the actual day came, the hunt was really punishing. It was a physical and mental challenges. I had to climb up the hill and jungle trekking at Tasek Lama. Honestly, I was not so ready for it. I thought that this would be a simple task of playing hidden clue. When I went back home, I was so fatigue.

We did manage to answer a few question right but we did not win anything in return. But nevertheless, it was an enjoyable experience. At least, I have met with some of my friends including Hajah Lina, Kong, the guy from RTB (I really do not know his name), Shahmi Hakim and the other Hakim from IGS College.

Coming Soon - I have keeping track this movie trailer and news of the new Transformers movie through Seibertron.com (Thank you Seibertron). It seems that the new movie will be action packed but with deep story compare to the ill-fated Revenge of the Fallen. There are no other new Autobot shown here but watching Shockwave (a Decepticon) for the first time was really satisfying. Can't wait for this movie to be release soon.

Saturday, 23^rd April 2011 - First of all, I would like my Muslim reader to recite the Al-Fatihah to my late friend, Hafiz (pictured in the bottom center). I was surprised when one of my colleague told me that Hafiz is no longer here. I do not understand what she meant by that until she text me again to clarify the situation. I was shocked and was sad at this moment when I heard the news. It came as a sudden news to me. Even my fiancée and her friend, Lisa did not know about this until I text her this afternoon. I know that Hafiz been in and out the hospital for almost a year now.

The last time he text me was on my Facebook wall was this.

He was a promising young man who want to further studies in ITB and taking his HND. But I guess Allah love him too much. May Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala bless his soul. Amin. Again, to all my Muslim reader, please recite the Al-Fatihah for him.

Friday, 1^st April 2011 - After a month of preparation and planning; our 2010 Ikrar Team finally agreed to have our reunion on the 1^st April 2010. Although at first, some of our team were excited on this event; lastly, there were only 8 person who attended this mini-reunion. It is understandable due to several work commitment and family matters. Although it was only a few of us, I felt that it was really worth the moment.

Our mentor, Pengiran Murah or else known as Uncle Ezad (90.7 Kristal FM), were not able to come due to certain commitment. And our team leader, Haji Hairol were excited at first but were not be able to come due to his training for the SEA Games. I very close on wanted to cancel this event but Ridhuan, one of our team member said that I should go on. He said that once we postpone or cancel a plan, it would be difficult to held another one. He was right.

That night was a very memorable one even for a short time. I would like to say thank you for those who come to the gathering and for those who could not make it, do not worry as there will be another soon, Insya Allah. Maybe this time all of us will be available to come and we can reminiscence like old time. Thank you again.

Wednesday, 23^rd February 2011 - I just want to wish a highly respect Congratulation to the 27^th 'Ikrar' team for their success in their performance. Although the early rain and the heat of the sun was very punishing, they managed to survived for a long three hours standing in front of His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam and perform their duty.

I felt this year team was very lucky. First, they don't have the trouble of walking from the Royal Regalia to DBP Library (like we did in 2010). Second, they were given special treatment by His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam by providing them with drinks. Lastly, they have the chance to shake hand with their beloved and caring monarch (even the other Royal family were there to greet them). Something that never happen before. Like I said in my previous posting, the new 'Ikrar' team was really sporting and fun group of people and I quote 'who were indeed very lucky indeed'.

I do wish that if I were in next year 'Ikrar' team, I would want to see the spirit like our 2010 'Ikrar' team and the 2011 'Ikrar' team. Congratulation again!

Tuesday, 22^nd February 2011 - This morning would be the last training for our 'Ikrar' team. This was one of our initiative for the 'Ikrar' team to be prepare for the actual day that is tomorrow. Some member of the team were already nervous but it does not let their spirit down even a little bit. The field was fill with their laughter even when actually they need to concentrate more. But as a saying goes "No jokes, no fun".

It seems like yesterday knowing this new team. I still remember the first time I went in to see and meet with them at our ministry. My first impression was that they were very serious and really dedicated. I was wrong. Who would have guess that this new 'Ikrar' team would be a fun and sporting group of people that I ever met. I think I am going to miss them after the actual day is over. Well, see you all in the future soon.

Monday, 21^st February 2011 - After the last rehearsal on Saturday, there were a lot of comment and a lot of major mistake. To me, the information on how to act was not very clear in the first place. All I know the committee wanted this and that but they themselves do not have a proper instruction especially during the contingency plan (raining procedure). But after the last practice, the marching teams was at their full 100% and it was a sight to see.

During this final rehearsal, I met with some familiar faces including our former E-Government National Center's Director, Awang Azhar, Sadri and Sufinah from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkaih Volunteer and not to forget, Sabrina, one of the youngest and brightest photographer around. It was a sight to see and hope that the actual day will be more colorful and energetic. You can view the event from Media Permata (luckily I was in the pix too, LOL).

Monday, 21^st February 2011 - The final rehearsal. Everyone is really tired for waking up so early in the morning. The state of mind is different than normal working day. The pressure of making a good presentation were up for the team. But the team had stay top-notched in the game and managed to prove to us their team spirit.

Last year, our Ikrar team presentation was simple and very straightforward. Due to the rainy season this year, the National Day committee decided to have a contingency plan. Although, a bit confuse at first for the team but the team has managed to practice it over and over again. Even after the final rehearsal in the morning, they even practice it in the afternoon. Quite an astonishing and impressive spirit for the team.

Saturday, 19^th February 2011 - Today is the full dress rehearsal and everyone were required to dress in their proper attire including our new 27^th 'Ikrar' team. Today our 'Ikrar' team are wearing all blue including myself. It reminds me a lot during our first actual full rehearsal (I don't remember what color we wear last time). There were a lot of changes in the format presentation lately but the team really showed what it takes to be 'The Chosen One'.

The team leader and the team managed to stay cool even after some commotion (including some minor technical problem with the speaker). He managed to lead his team like a true leader and remain calm even under pressure. An attribute of a true 'Pembaca Ikrar Utama'

Saturday, 19^th February 2011 - Today is the second day of the 27^th National Day Rehearsal. All participants are required to wear a dress code today including our 'Ikrar' team. It was a rainy weather, early in the morning but turn out to be hot after a few hours. When the rehearsal was beginning to start, it was scorching hot. This time, I met with some of my photographer friends including Hairie from Redha Photograhpy and Amri from Kulimpapat. Last year, I did not take any pictures on any rehearsal as I was also involved in the 'Ikrar' team but this year it was an exception. All well, ends well. The rehearsal event went well today although there were a few presentation. I personally felt that the time was really short than usual. I was not feeling well today as I had a really bad sore throat. I guess I was really dehydrated due to the unusual weather pattern. I hope I will be healthy and ready for the upcoming event soon. Thursday, 18^th February 2011 - I really miss my former 'Ikrar' team. A lot of good memories with them. Although, the sun can be sometimes punishing but our spirit were lifted with good laughter and sportsmanship. Nevertheless, the new 'Ikrar' team had showed their good spirit and get through on their first full rehearsal.

...27th National Day Celebration - First Rehearsal...

Thursday, 18^th February 2011 - Today held our first full rehearsal. There are less than 6 more days until the actual National Day Celebration. I woke up as early as 5 am this morning and went straight to my work place at 6 am. It was unusual to wake up as early as this and caught up into a minor traffic jam in Jalan Jangsak. I guess a lot of people is involve in this upcoming event. I have arrived at around 7 am and most of our Ikrar team was in the bus. Luckily, there was one more guy that we have to wait before going to Taman Sir Omar 'Ali Saifuddien. Lastly we arrived at around 7:45 am and the traffic were already dense.

Although, I was assigned as backup on my Ikrar team, I managed to take a few pictures of the event. I will not be available to take pictures on the actual day as I am on the assignment. This year itself, the National Day committee is preparing for two format of presentation and scenario. Movie Review - Well, I have been waiting for this movie since it was first time announced. When I was a kid, I used to watch the old TV series on Friday afternoon at RTM TV2 (back when there were no cable TV). I really love the TV series although I remember it vaguely. But luckily, I got the chance again to watch it on this new movie. At first I was really skeptical how the plot would turn out. Then I found out that this movie was really entertaining even if most of the plot was purely action and crude humor.

The main plot was about the son of a newspaper mogul, Britt Reid. He was raise without his mother and his father was too busy running the newspaper, The Daily Sentinel (not the Daily Planet, LOL). Anyway, he always got into trouble when he was a kid until he was an adult. He loves to party and a real playboy. His father always scorn him for being a loser and does not face the reality of life. Britt Reid despise his father so much even after the mysterious death of his father.

But all that was about to change after Britt Reid met his dad personal chauffeur, Kato. Both of them despise Britt Reid's father and plan to do something stupid. They cut off the head of the statue of James Reid and went off with their criminal spree. But fate met them with a bunch of hooligans and it is started the reign of The Green Hornet. What started as a practical jokes become a serious matter to them and the story goes on when you watch the movie in the cinema.

I am sorry to tell you that I watched this movie on the 2D version but nevertheless it is a fun and exciting experience. Britt Reid was a loud and really an idiot most of the time compare to the original TV series and Kato fighting skill was really exaggerating a little bit compare to the original Bruce Lee's fighting skill. The both of them had a 'Hornet Vision' (sort of a Predator vision), where they would use their adrenaline to take down the bad guys. Interestingly that would be cool in 3D but in 2D, I felt it was not necessary.

I was also skeptical about the casting of the character at first. But after watching this movie, they are fit for their character. But I do admit and being honest that Cameron Diaz was a little bit 'age' for the role. Even the bad guy, Benjamin Chudnofsky (played by Christoph Waltz) was an interesting character. Then there is the legendary Black Beauty. A car which makes the Batmobile look like a kiddy ride. Pack with multiple and deadly arsenal (including a pack of beans). It is so imaginative and really cool at the same time.

Conclusion - Although the plot of this movie was really thin but nevertheless it is a fun and exciting movie. Whether other critics would negative say about this movie, I really loving it and hope to see another sequel in the future. Oh yeah, they even make a tribute to the original Kato, Bruce Lee, in this movie. Try to find it if you watch the movie.

Despite some allegation, he is known by 007 fans alike as the composer of theme song for James Bond. His last score with the 007 franchise was The Living Daylight starring Timothy Dalton as James Bond. He received five Academy Awards including a Grammy Award for his work in Dancing with the Wolves.

The story started where Assassin's Creed 2 left. Anyway, for your information, this is not Assassin's Creed 3 but rather a sequel to Assassin's Creed 2 and a prequel to the upcoming Assassin's Creed 3 (to be confirmed this year). Desmond, Lucy, Shaun and Rebecca escape from their attackers from their secret hideout. They soon find out that they need the Apple of Eden in order to defeat Abstergo (originally know as The Templar). They went into hiding in Monteriggioni and setup the Animus there. Once in the Animus, Desmond found out that Ezio did not kill Rodrigo Borgia and leave him behind. The Borgia attack the Villa Auditore by Rodrigo's son, Cesaere Borgia and killed Ezio's uncle, Mario. Wounded and vengeful, Ezio decided to take over Rome and eliminated the Borgia's influence once and for all. And the rest is up for you to find out.

This time the game will take you to the historic Rome or Roma. Land that once stood a great empire and a great civilization. It will take you to several unique locale include the Colosseum and the Vatican city. One thing is for sure, it is pretty big map and walking won't always do. Like in previous game, you can unlock shops and added banks and stables to help you with the walking, LOL. But to unlock those shops, banks and stables, you will need to remove the Borgia's tower. But to do that, you will need a very good skill in fighting, evading enemies and kill the captain first and foremost. Then you can buy those shops to unlock better equipment and items.

As you progress the game, there are several elements that are quite different than the past two games. The first would be the requirement of the 100% full sync of every missions or side missions. These missions will unlock cheats once you finished the game. Then later in the game, you have the ability to recruit assassins yourself. But you need to destroy the Borgia's tower as a requirement for the unlock. Once you unlock and hired, you level up your assassins and send them on a missions. To enhance the experience; if you have a Facebook account, you can play the Assassin's Creed Project Legacy (a sort of Mafia War's clone but highly addictive). These will help you level up your assassins and unlock several items to be used in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Conclusion - The only thing that I really dislike about his game is the music and the camera angle. The music might be dramatic sometimes but most of the time, it just felt like I'm watching Twilight movie or something. And the camera angle is so frustrating at some time. I do not know about other PlayStation 3 users but I had problem with graphical hiccups. Especially when in large crowds. But the rest of the experience was extraordinary.

What surprise me the most that this game is a sleeper hit. I do admit that I was a bit skeptical about this new sequel because most game developer just slap a new game without even thinking the consequences. But not Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Ubisoft had created a wonderful masterpiece. Great storyline, great game play and really worth to purchase this game. For PlayStation 3 owner, you can download the Exclusive content from PlayStation Network. This title is considered to me as Assassin's Creed 2.5. Cannot wait for the next sequel to arrive soon.

The pilot story began when two Sheriff was on duty and were in pursuit of a raging and armed redneck. The fated struck when Rick Grimmes were shot down and was in coma for a long period of time. But when he finally woke up, the world was drown in a bio-hazard epidemic (luckily, Umbrella was not involve in this one LOL). When he woke up, the hospital was in a bad state and there were no one to be found (alive that is).

Luckily, he was found by two survivors. Later, he went to look for his own family but things was not looking good as he thought the city would be the first place to look for. But he was wrong. The greatest thing about this TV series is that I felt it borrows a lot of elements from certain epic movie. It does not tell you the cause of the virus but it did mentioned on how the virus affected a human to become the living dead on the final season episode. Then the basic human relationship during a post apocalyptic event felt like watching the true nature of a human being. In desperate situation, human will act beyond comprehend. But even in those kind of situation, they would need to work with each other even if someone hold a grudge against you or likewise.

Conclusion - I felt that the story telling was at a very good phase. Not too fast and too surprising either. But the horror is there. I never imagined that there would be a series that had that movie quality storyline. At first, I was skeptical at the cast but after a while I was convinced that they deliver a good performance. Even the make-up, effect and gore level were very convincing. So if you love a zombie flick, then wait for the next season to air or simply get the graphic novel to satisfy your lust for zombie infestation.

Finally its here! - After years of thoughts and evaluation, I finally bought a Nintendo Wii! I will not consider to buy another Xbox 360 as it is not worth my long term investment. At first, I wanted to buy another PlayStation 2 but consider that the fact that I already invested a lot on the game; I would want something new and innovative.

Then came the Wii. With motion detected controller, this new console from Nintendo revolutionize everything. It also spawn Sony to produce the PlayStation Move and Microsoft to produce Kinect. Well after playing a few titles, this console is cool although not quite the upgrade on the graphical side. But who cares! Playing game should be fun!

P.S: This is not my first Nintendo console. I owned a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and a Nintendo 64 (N64) before.

PC Review - Even Obi Wan Kenobi will even think twice about this sequel. At first my impression was that it is going to be a challenging game and the story will continue the journey of the clone Galen Marek or known best as Darth Vader secret apprentice, Starkiller. So lets be honest and let get straight the gameplay itself. The first game was really awesome although it borrows a few element from other game. Even the puzzle and the boss fight was really great. But this new game is fall short of those. Its bland and the long boss fight might want you to throw your joypad on the screen instead. Even the storyline was really terrible and weak. It really leave fans of the game (and Star Wars), wondering this "What the hell?". Although it featured some of the historic Star Wars locale such as Kamino and the but that was not even satisfying.

Conclusion - There are a few new element in this game such as new force power and new enemy unit. These new force power are such as the mind trick and 'Force Fury'. There are few puzzle but most of them are repetition of one another which make it really boring. You can also look for lightsaber crystal and points to upgrade your character. Honestly, I can in finish this game in less than a day. The only best feature in this game is the appearance of Boba Fett and some of the cheat code which allow you to use new skin. But all in all, the Force is missing in this new game.

Coming Soon - I truly cannot believe that this movie will come so soon. I thought it would be a very long way. But here it is, a teaser trailer that showing the two legendary astronaut, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin found a Cyertronian Spaceship that crash landed on the moon. The teaser trailer ended with a Transformer awaken from the slumber that look a bit like Alpha Trion. All the cast will return in this new movie except for Megan Fox (who is replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley). As additional bonus, Patrick Dempsey will also be joining the cast.

So set your calendar on July next year and wait for the release in full 3D glory. Roll out.

PlayStation 3 Review - It had been a very long time since I updated anything on my blog. I have been busy with work lately and it makes me really fatigue. But I do bought a few video games this weekend, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit for the PlayStation 3, Star Wars: Force Unleashed II, Call of Duty: BlackOps and James Bond: Blood Stone on the PC (just wait for those review soon). But first I would like to make a congratulation to EA and Criterion Games (Burnout series) for an excellence job on making this new series a very excellent one and returning the gameplay to its original arcade racer genre.

There a lot of changes (I don't call it changes and I will explain it later) and if you play previous Need for Speed starting from Need for Speed Underground, then you will need to catch up. The original Need for Speed is about racing in an original and performance car. The original game does not have the ability to modified your car or even tune up the performance a bit. It is all about the raw power of the car from the manufacturer itself. So does this new game. Its all about the performance and the classes ranging from sports, performance and exotic. It is in the exotic level that will pit u up against the most fastest and expensive car in the world (that it will even take me 100 years of my annual yearly salary to buy a Bugatti Veyron).

Introduce in Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit is the cops. Yes, the cop has return and this time you have the pleasure of being a hard knock racer or a dedicated police officer. For a racer, you will need a bounty to level up while as a police officer, you will need your distinction level. This level up will unlock new cars and new equipment for you. Did I mention equipment? Just like in Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit; as a Police you have the advantage to call in a roadblock, a spike strip, a police helicopter and an EMP blast. Not just that, even the racer is equipped with their own anti-police arsenal such as a spike strip, an EMP blast, an EMP jammer and a turbo. Interestingly, you will use this only on certain events.

Like I mentioned before, the car is split into three specific category: Sports, Performance and Exotic. The sports car range from Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X to a Subaru WRX STi. The performance car range from the Lamborghini Gallardo to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. And the exotic car range from the Lamborghini Reventon to the Koenigsegg CCXR Edition. Unfortunately for fans of the original Hot Pursuit 2, Ferrari won't be returning to this franchise (it is still unconfirmed whether EA will make a DLC like in Shift).

Conclusion - I will not say much about this game but it is definitely challenging. The AI is really great and the challenges is challenging but not that hard. The only things that I really miss is the barrel roll from the helicopter just like in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit II. Even the soundtrack makes a good come back like the good ol'days (the music of Hot Action Cop still rings in my head). Although there are no modification or 'pimp your ride' theme, nevertheless Need for Speed return in its old traditional arcade fun racer game. A must buy game for all you speed junkies out there.

You can also play team battle in which you will take turn as either the survivor or the infected. Unluckily this game is exclusive to the PC and Xbox 360 only. Xbox 360, PC, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 - This game is not related to the incident that was caused by Umbrella Corporation or if had to do with George Romero's Dawn of the Dead (as it was label in the sticker of the original Xbox 360 case). Dead Rising was originally an exclusive on the Xbox 360 when it was first launched. This game is my most favorite game of all time. The story was not as serious like Resident Evil series and you can choose any mission you like according to the time sequence. This game has also several endings in which the good ending will have the 'Overtime Mode' and get the true ending. Choose a wide variety of weapon across the shopping mall and kick some zombies butt.

5. Stubbs The Zombie: Rebel without a Pulse

Xbox 360, PC and Apple - I love this game! This is my most favorite game on the original Xbox. Using the same engine as Halo, this game is wickedly cool and very clever in making use of the Halo physic. Instead of fighting or surviving against a horde of zombies, this game is the other way around. You become the zombie instead. You need to eat other people brains and make them your army of the undead. Although the game reception was positive, it was criticize for its cannibalism in the game itself. To me, I really do not care as you know how a zombie feel when people are trying to kill you and you chewing their brain out.

6. Plants vs. Zombies

Wireless device, PC, PlayStation Network and Xbox 360 Live - If you tone down the gore and the violence on a zombie video game; you will have Plants vs. Zombies. A different type of zombies but with the same basic concept. A horde of zombies will attack your house and your only defense against them is your plantation. WHAT? Your plant you say? But this is not your average plant. Some of these plant has special abilities such as shooting pea, munching zombies and even creating a mine bomb. You need to be strategic in plating specific plants on your garden or else the zombies will knock on your door and eat your brain out. A fun game from those people who brings you Bejeweled, PopCaps.

7. The House of the Dead

Sega Saturn, Nintendo Wii, Xbox and PC - Sega most well known shooter game that was first appeared in the arcade. This game was later ported to the Sega Saturn, Xbox and a prominent resident in the PC. The same storyline as Resident Evil, this game is all about an outbreak that were caused by some shadowy organization. The game used a guncon and was a fun game especially playing with a friend. It maintain the horror aspect even if the pace of the game was quite fast. And the boss battle are both ugly and epic.

PC only - Another Left 4 Dead clone which emphasize more on multi-player survival than a single player mission. Some people might like it and yet some people might still prefer Left 4 Dead. And the dark and shadowy atmosphere create an ambient feeling of something really lurking everywhere. Try and play this game as you might not be disappointed.

Xbox 360, Apple iPhone, PlayStation 3 and PC - Actually it is not entirely a zombie or an undead game but when you finally finished the whole game, a new mode will be unlock. The story setback when your plane were shot down and you ended up in an empty house but something strange happen that night. All your fellow soldiers and enemies has turn into the living dead. It is up to you to set up your defense against those horde of zombies. The coolest thing about this game that you can play it with a friends in co-op mode and each wave will unlock certain powerful weapon against a mass of zombies attack. And in the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops, the zombie mode will return for your zombies killing pleasure.

Facebook - I know I played a lot of Facebook games before but nothing can compare to this new game by Cie Games Inc. It is a business management game with a racing element in it. At first there were only a few of my friends who played this game (5 people only to be exact). But a few week later, it grows into 20 people in my friends list who played this game. Cool right?

The basic gameplay of this game is to manage your own workshop and your ride. You gain income by doing what a car workshop would do. Pimp a few ride, wash a car, install a stereo system and even installing a jet engine (which was kind of weird). Then you need to buy things for your workshop. Some of these things will generate money such as the hockey table, a drink machine and even a fuel pump station.

By meeting a certain points, you can easily level fast. Each level up will unlock a whole new things such as hire new worker, buy a new car and expand your workshop. This points comes in XP. Each XP can be earned by doing jobs, drag racing with your friends and buying stuff for your workshop. By leveling up, you will also earn coins to buy new car. The car in this game is a licensed cars. It ranges from Ford to Honda. At the time of this post, the game display the new Honda CR-Z on their showroom. You can even have the ability to upgrade your ride into one big mean machine according to their class. You can also change the appearance of your ride by using customized skin or you can just design it yourself.

Conclusion - The only setback of this game is the constant lag issues and overload servers as it is in the beta stage. It really makes the experience quite frustrating sometimes. I have those experience when you have customize your ride and to find out that it is gone the next time you load it. Just like any Facebook game, you will have to need constant attention to your work hour in this game or you might end up customer who fail to pay for your services. Otherwise, this game is a great game especially against friends and family. Sunday, 10^th October 2010 - It had been our plan a few years ago that if my cousin, Aziz, return from the UK, we would hangout again like old times. And we did and this time we were going to a place quite far away. Kuala Belait.

So that morning we packed our camera and went there. It was me, my brother and two of my cousin. Our actual plan was to survey some music equipment at BL Tone in Kuala Belait and a music shop (I do not remember the name) in Seria. There I found a very beautiful black acoustic guitar. It was not an ordinary acoustic guitar as you can connect it to your PC via USB and record your song. Different than an electric guitar, this guitar does not need an amplifier. But you have an option to play using one. But the price tag was so hefty that it really surprise me. B$1400+.

PlayStation 3 Review - I love the sound of crunching meat, bone breaking or even the sound of blood splattering on the floor. I still remember the first time I played on two of my broken Xbox360 (before it was broken that is). I really do not know what the game was all about the first time I bought it. I have not read a review or even none of my friend ever suggested it to me. To be simple; this game was love at first slice.

The story won't be about Frank West and Isabella anymore (the first protagonist on Dead Rising). This time around the story surround a motorcycle stuntman who is also a father named Chuck Greene. He was framed by some shadowy character for releasing the zombies during the Terror is Reality Show. Every survivor who watched the news blamed him. So he had three days to prove himself not guilty for causing the outbreak. He also needs to maintain her daughter's anti-zombie medication and keep his daughter alive while he look for Zombrex.

Interestingly, there are a lot of improvement compare to the first game. Old element such as New Game+, Overtime Mode, Magazines, Clothing, Rescuing Survivor, Mixing Drinks and Defeating Psychopath returns in this new game. The real best feature in this game is the ability to combine weapon into combo weapon. Each combo weapon can be obtain on posters all over the map, leveling up or after defeating a Psychopath. Some of these combo are quite useful especially the Boxing Glove + Bowie Knife (very useful against Psychopath). There are also a lot of new vehicles that can be used. To add to that, the motorcross bikes can be customize into a one-lean mean zombie killing machine.

Another addition to the clothing is the hair style. You can customize any style that you really like or even color Chuck Green's hair. But that is not the greatest feature in this game. The best feature in this game is the online co-op. You can now play with a friend and get help finishing your mission. This time around, the game itself will not be exclusive to the Xbox360 only. This time, the title had also been ported to the PlayStation 3 and the PC. To be honest the PlayStation 3 version suffer minor graphic glitch and the PC port runs very excellent on a high end machine. But every port suffer a very long loading time compare to the first Dead Rising. And like Dead Rising, this sequel also suffer small text on 'Standard Definition' television. But that is all the drawback that I can think of right now. Nevertheless, this sequel is the same old great video game that I used to play and loving it.

Conclusion - There are also several references (eggs as you called it) on this game. I found a few such as the Goblin Mask which shows the head of Blanka from Street Fighters and if you collect the Knight full costume, you will be able to become Arthur the Knight from Ghost 'N Ghoul. So if you want to buy the game, make sure you buy the special package game that contain the Ninja costume, it will help you a lot especially for beginners.

Tuesday, 28^th September 2010 - Today, we had our Hari Raya gathering for all the staff of E-Government National Center, JPM. A few days before we had a private meeting with Minister of Defense to team-up for the event. And so we did and we were given a theme for that day - Arabian. So today we went there wearing tradition Arabic attire (I look like an Imam today, LOL).

The function started at 2:00 pm and every EGNC personnel from every ministry went there to celebrate the event. I met a few of my old friends from Focus Computer School, a once upon a time attachment student at Yayasan, my former Mengliat Secondary schoolmate, my lecturer at Focus Computer School and Ashadi's mother. The function started when our newly appointed Deputy Secretary of EGNC, Awang Hj Azhar bin Hj Ahmad as the guest of honor makes a brief speech. It was later followed by his visit to every booth at the ministries food counter. His first stop was at our booth. By the looks on his face, it seems that he was impressed by our presentation. Even when we looked outside at our outdoor booth; our Kebab counter had a very long line (thank to the delicious Seri Kandi recipe).

Then our guest of honor proceed to launch the new EGNC van outside the building. Later on, there were an announcement on the best booth this year. And to our surprise, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Ministry of Defense won the price. We were glad that we won as our effort and team work was finally pull off with great result. For the best attire, Ministry of Home Affairs won that category. I am not sure about the rest of the competition.

Congratulation to our team, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Ministry of Defense for winning the competition (we never won anything before). We hope that next year theme will be different. Maybe Italian as suggested by Suzy, one of my colleague. Anyway, we managed to take a picture with the guest of honor at our booth and this year Hari Raya will all be remembered for. Thank you all of EGNC staffs for this great event.

The story focus on a young owl named Soren (Jim Sturgess). Soren is a young owl who live with his parents, a brother named Kludd and little sister named Eglantine. They used to hear story about the Guardian and their favorite hero, Lyze of Kiel. It was one unfortunate night when these Soren and Kludd were trying to prove amongst themselves who is better at flying and drop out of the branches instead. Scared and were hunted down by a predator; there were soon saved by another band of owls. Instead of putting back them to the trees, they were captured and were bought to The Pure Ones led by the legendary Metal Beak and his mate, Nyra.

Soren soon realize that The Pure Ones were dealing with some evil deeds. They were enslaving the less fortunate owl and promote the rest of the Tytos into soldier for them including Soren's brother, Kludd. Soren then escape their lairs with her new found friend, Gylfie and with the help of Grimble. But Grimble were dead after trying to protect Soren and Gylfie escape. His last dying wishes were to ask both Soren and Gylfie to seek the Guardian. And so they did and they found unlikely allies along the way. Although I never read the book before but according to Wikipedia, there were a lot of difference in the movie. While the book were considered as a children's story book and were light in violence; the movie had that darker tone and felt like watching Lord of the Ring instead. Don't get me wrong because I really like it but there are certain aspect that were really gritty and not that suitable for children. But the storyline were rather familiar. An innocent boy (in this case an owl) who went from zero to hero. Met with a few allies, go to war and were threaten by his own bloodline. A classic epic story. But to me why it is 'unique' were the setting itself. Instead of a human being or a animation character (like Shrek), it was more focus on a point of view of a bird. You can relate this movie like The Lion King but with armor and cool weaponry.

Even the battle were quite an epic (which I really love especially if there were a 3D cinema in Brunei). Just seeing those bird with precise tactics and the air-to-air clawfight were really awesome. I also love the stunning animation in this movie. It felt quite real especially with the texture and the logic of how an owl behave. I also love one of the music soundtrack played by (yeah, you guess it right) Owl City. The only weaknesses in this movie was the direction of this movie. I felt it was scattered all around. People will easily get confuse with the storyline.

Conclusion - Although some reviewer will say that this movie was not that good but I would like to say otherwise. This movie maybe common in the storyline (what do you expect from a children storybook?) but it is rich with its own uniqueness and special formula. The voice acting is excellent and the music is great. Even the animation and the co-ordination were superb. To parents, bring your children these weekend and watch this heart warming movie about an owl.

The story continues where Resident Evil: Extinction left off. Alice with some of her clone went to attack Umbrella Corporation underground base in Tokyo. Their mission was to kill the director of Umbrella Corporation, Albert Wesker (former team member of STARR). Unfortunately, Wesker survive the offence and managed to put Alice into her normal state as a human being. After surviving a plane crash, Alice went on finding her friends, Claire Redfield. After managed to rescue her, she went to find for other survivor and fate had met them with Claire's brother, Chris Redfield. The rest is up to you to find out.

Unfortunately, I only watch this movie in standard format and not the 3D format as there are not yet any cinema in Brunei that support 3D. So you can basically understand how it felt when watching it in normal standard mode. But that was not the case. The storyline in this movie is so thin, it felt that the action were the only thing that happen on screen. I have watch too many zombies apocalypse movie and this one was not my favorite. I still prefer Dawn of the Dead compare to this one. Adding element from Resident Evil 5 such as the 'Majini' zombies and the axe guy only create a few moment of excitement. But the rest of the story was just the same old survival story and ended with some stupid boss fight.

Conclusion - Like previous installment, this movie is just another way to get money by slapping the video game label on it. Maybe I am just traumatised that every video game to movie adaptation will be like Uwe Boll's movie. Even after so many sequel, I still prefer the first Resident Evil movie as it is related to the event that really happen before the incident in Racoon City. Then the rest is just plain exaggerating. So if you want to see this movie, go and see it or else wait for the Blu-Ray release of Prince of Persia.

Super Mario Bros. - He is an Italian American plumber and he always try to save Princess Peach from Bowser in Mushroom Kingdom. The main aim of the game was to race through time while defeating (or evading) Bowser's minion on every level. From 8-bit pixel characters into 64-bit characters, Mario evolve into an iconic gaming character and the most memorable. I would play for a long period of time but never try to finish it during the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) era. But nevertheless, this game really make an impact to the gaming world just like Pac-Man did.

For most of us, the most memorable moment from the game is the music itself (forget about the movie as it is really suck). Who could forget that jingle that always rhythm in your head. So you can be sure that Mario will lives forever in out heart.

Saturday, 11^th September 2010 - Its the second day of Syawal, and my family were invited to my auntie's house at Kampong Kulapis for an open house invitation. That same morning, my family were planning to go to Lamunin before heading out to Kulapis. When my brother walk-in to my car to start my engine, my car battery were dead and we did not follow the rest of my family to Lamunin. So we took the initiative to borrow one of my sisters car and went to Kulapis instead. And we stay there until the rest of my family arrived from Lamunin.

Later that evening, we went to Kasat which is located at the Lumapas area and visited one of our grandparent. The food there was still the best for me as it was cook by one of my auntie, Tua Minah. I managed to took our family pictures before we departed and headed for home.

Ramadhan - It is been a while since I updated my blog. I am truly sorry as I am very busy with my daily routine. Well, first thing first. Here is what have been missing these few weeks. On 19^th August 2010, me and my colleague went to our office at EGNC for an Induction Programme. On 26^th August 2010, I went to the Law Building Court for my road accident trial (and had to pay the summon). Then on both 18^th and 29^th August, I went for the Sungkai breakfast with my love one, Alai Rinah.

First, on 18^th August, we went for the Sungkai buffet at Jeruton Hotel at Kampong Jerudong. I came as early as 5:30 pm as I was afraid for limited parking. But I was terribly wrong, there were a lot of parking spaces and there were not a lot of people there. There were at least 5 table empty that day. But the food was rather nice but with little variety. And the price is about B$8.00 per person (adult).

Finally, on 29^th August 2010, I went for another invitation from my love. This time, the venue were at the Amanah Harith Restaurant in Jerudong. It had been their plan together with their former college friends (who are working at Kuala Belait) to meet up there. The price were more cheaper than Jeruton (B$7.50 per person) and have a lot of variety of food. It was really satisfying. The only problem were the parking spaces. Luckily, we managed to park early near a barber shop. Anyway, I would like to say thank you to my love, Alai Rinah for inviting me for a sungkai breakfast together with her friends.

Top 10 Worst Video Game Movie - It is every gamers nightmare if one of their favorite game became one of the worst movie. Even for non-gamers, most movie critics will find out that most of video game movie adaptation were confusing and often misinterpreted than the original.

Doom

The Video Game - Originally created by id Software and released back then in 1993; this game was the mother of all FPS. The game main story is about a lone marine who are posted at planet Mars under the UAC security forces. Unluckily, he came at the wrong time and the wrong place when all hell spawn was unleashed. It was revealed that a secret experiment had gone terribly wrong and they are opening a gateway of hell. So it is up for the marine to make way through hell and survive the ordeal while defeating some bad ass demon.

The Movie - Basically the same idea but minus all the hellish stuff. Compare to the story behind Doom 3, this film is a bit more soft side and removes all that gore and hell spawn. The story is about a man named Reaper who were assigned to Mars along with 7 others marine corps. They were asked to investigate an occurence at one of the lab and search for a scientist named Dr. Carmack (based on one of the original Doom creators name).

But all hell broke lose when the test subject turns into something else. This is more of a space opera movie but were laughable. There were a lot of reference to the game including the First Person Shooter (FPS) view. But due to the weak storyline and the light violence compare to the video game makes this movie one of the worst video game movie.

Special Moments - Sarge played by The Rock turn into a freaking fighting zombie at the end of the movie. The First Person Shooter spawn one of the memorable cutscene and the movie Kick-Ass did it so much better.

All these game are great video games. Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead share the horror flicks while the rest is based on action and sci-fi video game genre. You played these games before then you will understand what I am about to say about his movie.

The Movie - Terrible and most horribly done movie video game adaptation. Even B-Rated movie such as Planet Terror are way 10 time more better than all of these movie combine together. Some of these movie like House of the Dead and Blood Rayne, only share the raging hormone of a teenager to see tits and sex scene. Even the script, the locale and the effect are laughable. There were not even any reference or similarity to the game itself. In other words, it is plain stupid. I rather watch the Three Stooges rather than buy any ticket to watch Uwe Boll's movie.

Special Moments - Alone in the Dark was supposed to be the Resident Evil movie main opponent but instead it was not that scary. House of the Dead were set at an island of the dead instead of at the mansion where the secret experiment were started. There were sex scene in the first Blood Rayne played by Christina Loken (Terminator 3) inside a dungeon.

Super Mario Bros.

The Video Game - Super Mario originally started his appearance with his brother, Luigi in 1985. It was a phenomenon back then especially when you can afford to buy a Nintendo Entertainment System or a Famicom. The plot was simple, go through every level in Mushroom Kingdom, defeat Bowser's forces and save Princess Peach. Although the game mechanic itself is simple but it was fun and addictive. There are several power-up and secret level for you to find out. I still remember that there were once a player who could finish the whole game in just 3 minutes.

The Movie - Honestly, I really like this movie when I was a teenager (maybe because this was the first video game adaptation movie). But that was WHEN I was a teenager. Then I bought the DVD back in 2005 and try to find out why was this movie was really interesting. And to my surprise and horror, I found out that this movie was really bad. It was sleepy and felt so out of place. Two plumbers from Brooklyn named Mario Mario and Luigi Mario caught themselves into trouble when they met Daisy. She was later kidnapped by two crooks to another dimension and it was up to the Mario brothers to save her.

Compare to the lively world of the video game, this movie is utterly dark and different than its video game counterpart. The inter-dimensional world was rule by humans who evolved from dinosaur (some stupid Darwin's theory). It was rule by a tyrant named King Koopa. Different than the real boss in the video game, King Koopa was a T-Rex descendant compare to the fire breathing turtle in the video game. The Mario brother even got that colored red and green overall and armed with a high tech boots which allow them to jump or hover much higher (a reference to the game itself).

Special Moments - The Mario brother swing the big but small headed Goomba(s) and make them dance in the elevator. Princess Daisy was just the minor princess in Mushroom Kingdom, it was Princess Peach who needs to be rescued by Mario and Luigi. King Koopa turn into a T-Rex during a battle. Yoshi make an appearance in this movie as a small T-Rex dinosaur. One of the official soundtrack was 'Hocus Focus' played by Roxette.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

The Video Game - Resident Evil or Biohazard (Japan) was and still a great game to be reckon with. The first Resident Evil game appeared on the Sony PlayStation in 1996 (and later on the Sega Saturn) and became a major phenomenon. It later spawn numerous title under the same name and the recent title was Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. It is a story about bio-terrorism that occur all over the world and how it impact on the life of several key individual. The main protagonist for some of the game was Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy and Sheva Alomar. From mere zombies into a highly mutated mutant, player must survive the onslaught with conserve ammo and health. This game is consider the scariest game of all time. This game is available on multiple console including Nintendo handheld device and crossover on Marvel vs Capcom and its sequel.

The Movie - Actually, the first movie was really good but this sequel are plain terrible. It is stupid and laughable. This movie continues when Alice, the main protagonist was successfully revive and only to find out that half of the city block were already infested. This story plays as an arc from the Resident Evil 3:Nemesis video game. This was the first appearance of two of the main characters from the video game, Jill Valentine (an original member of S.T.A.R.S) and Carlos Olivera (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service).

What I really hate about this movie is its weak storyline and the stupid direction. Although Jill Valentine was really hot (played by Sienna Guillory) and her uncanny looks with the video game counterpart. Even the main antagonist, Nemesis had a different agenda than the video game. In the video game, he was instructed to kill all S.T.A.R.S member including Jill Valentine. But in this movie, the order was also focus on killing Alice (who was an Umbrella employee before the outbreak). The last scene was the most laughable where Alice fought Nemesis hand to hand combat. That was the most stupidest thing I ever watched in a horror movie.

Special Moments - Alice found out that Nemesis was actually his former friend, Matt Addison in the first movie. The licker and mutant dog appeared in this movie but it was not that scary. We later found out that Alice was actually a clone.

Tekken

The Video Game - Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter and King of Fighters was a legend in the 2D fighting arena. But Tekken was the greatest 3D video game during the late 90's. It was also Sega's Virtua Fighter main competitor during those days. Most of my friends would only play Tekken rather than Virtua Fighter. Why it was great? It is fast, got combo's and the technical fighting style differs with every characters in Tekken. Even when it was ported on the console, it got great storyline, great full motion video introduction and ending, full of unlockable and a fast or near to none loading time. Nowadays, you can even play online with the most challenging player all around the world while making your name on the leader-boards.

The Movie - I laugh and cry at the same time watching this movie. It was like watching a circus act. Although some of the cast were really resemble like their game counterpart, the rest was really laughable. That includes the main character, Jin Kazama. In the video game, the Tekken tournament was held by a powerful financial corporation called the 'Mishima Zaibatsu' and were held by their leader, Heihachi Mishima himself. If the player wins, they will be offered with big rewards and is free to host the next tournament. The huge difference was in this movie, the corporation takes over the nation and in order to maintain law and order, the Tekken tournament was held.

The story then took off from Tekken 3. It took the role of Jin Kazama who is seeking revenge on his mother's death by the Mishima Zaibatsu. What is so different than the game was the tournament was in front of real life audience and on center stage. Even the characters were so cheesy and impulsive. If it focus on the demon side of Jin Kazama and his rage against his father, Kazuya; then this movie will be worth to watch. Nevertheless, too much time on portraying the fight scene and less time with the story telling makes this movie a really dull one.

Special Moments - Kazuya had grown a beard. Marshall Law was supposed to look a bit like Bruce Lee but in this movie, he was fat. Steve Fox accent was American. Christie Monterro does not even recognise Eddie Gordo (in which he was her mentor in the art of Capoeira). Heihachi is played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and once played the character Shang Tsung in the Mortal Kombat movie.

Music Review - It has been a long time since I review any good music. Most of it was either sounded like Justin Beiber or just plain boring. Anyway, before Ramadhan came, I heard a song aired on major radio studio. This particular song intrigued me the most as it was not from the common place where you heard Nasyid before. Most of Nasyid song came either from Malaysia or Indonesia. But this song were from far away. It was called 'For the Rest of My Life'.

What intrigue me again was although it was a love song but it got that Islamic value inside its lyric. Most probably for newly wed or those who are already married. Then I found out who was the artist, and his name was Maher Zain. The song was from the album, Thank You Allah. Here are a few list of songs inside the album:

Each of this songs has its own message about Allah Subhanahu Wa'atala and The Prophet Muhammad Salallahu 'Alaihi Wassalam. I guess this is a good song especially during this Ramadhan season and the upcoming Syawal.

Coming Soon - Pon..Pon.. Pata..Pon! Well if you never play Patapon on the PlayStation Portable than you are no fan of the game at all. I have played Patapon and Patapon 2 and it is a very beautiful and challenging game. Even with the simple animation with that one eyed soldiers for you to command. It is musical and it is beautiful. Sources says that this game continues where Patapon 2 left off. This time it is more focusing on Multi-Player where you can play with your friends via Ad-Hoc Wireless or through the PlayStation Network (PSN). ...Xbox 360 Slim is Hacked (Hooray!!)...

Xbox 360 News - I guess the new Microsoft Xbox 360 Slim is vulnerable to pirate hack (good for us, bad for Microsoft). I guess their security architectural design is really weak just like their previous design. It is so weak that they even do not improve on their technical glitches such as the infamous 3 Red Ring of Light (they remove the red light on the Xbox 360 Slim instead). In other words, the error probability is still huge. The only console that I really salute is the Sony PlayStation 3. It is still uncrackable and if does, it will be hard for pirate to burn a Blu-Ray video game disc as it is really expensive and not worth their investment. And if they do crack it, it will be too late as the new next generation console is on the horizon.

Movie Review - It is either Bad Movie from Good Video Game or Bad Video Game from a Good Movie. Video game and movie film must never get married together. If they do, they will have ugly kids. But do not blame video game producer if the movie that Hollywood produced will be ugly and stupid. All I know that there are only one director who had the luxury to create very bad movie from really good video game and his name is Uwe Boll. But its just not him, there is a line behind him that awaits to be in the fail department. All I can say about this movie is - WTF??

The storyline of this movie started when a teenager named Jin Kazama makes a living by stealing important item and sell it to the black market. One day, he stole an important item that is very important to the Mishima Corporation. After the head of security, Kazuya, found out who stole the item, the evidence lead to Jin and his mother, Jun Kazama. Unluckily, the Tekken Force wipe out all evidence by killing Jun Kazama in front of Jin. Jin swore to destroy the Mishima Corporation including the head of Mishima himself, Heihachi. But fate lead to one event into another. In other words, 'its a one hell of a mess'. And the story is up to you to watch it.

To be honest, if a movie based on a fighting game is always disastrous unless you have an Outworld Warlord or a Demon Sorceror. The only fighting game movie that is a success was Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Why it is a success? Simple. Just follow what the storyline in the game tells you and turn it into the big screen. And that is why Mortal Kombat is a success. Even big franchise such as Street Fighter and Dead or Alive movie was really weird and creepy. So does this new Tekken movie. I really fell asleep when watching the first anime movie but it was rather good than this. At least the anime storyline stays true to the game.

Even casting was a little bit weird. The only person that really stays true to the game was Raven, Yoshimitsu and Eddie Gordo. The rest was either laughable or porn stars actor. I really laugh looking at Marshall Law who is a bit fat and Dragonov who looks like a sissy girl rather than that dark KGB persona. Even Heihachi looks like a clown to me. And I really thought that Christie Montero was a Caribbean girl in the game. And then, there is the Tekken tournament which is fought like in a WWE Wrestling match. Even Dead or Alive were fought in different location (which was a good thing to me). Another thing that is laughable was the use of weapon in this movie. Even Mortal Kombat does not have that luxury, LOL. They should make a Soul Caliber movie instead of Tekken.

According to sources, even Namco's Tekken producer felt disgusted with the movie. In a statement in his Twitter explain that:

“That Hollywood movie is terrible. We were not able to supervise that movie. (It was cruel contract.) I’m not interested in that [movie].”

“Please don’t ask me about that movie. We did not have the supervision right. I don’t want talk about that.”

Conclusion - Well, at least you got the idea that this movie was not properly supervise by them. For your information, Silent Hill movie project involved and supervise by those people from Konami themselves. That is why the movie was really great and felt close to the franchise itself. But I do love some of the fight scene, some of the actor were actually real martial art artist. So you can say that the fighting scene is real. Unluckily, due to the bad storyline and the cheesy acting, this movie is a terrible movie. I guess every good video game ended up being a very bad movie indeed if handed to those money monkey. PC Review - Tiberian Twilight and Kane is back from the heaven (I think). Last we know that Kane founded a secret that led the Scrin invasion of the earth and why the Tiberian were growing rapidly on the earth. It seems that Kane had live a very long life and appear in all major Command & Conquer game. But do this game fare amongst its predecessor? Well, there are major changes in the game play and some fans of the original might felt disgusted with this new game (even myself). Why? Well lets find out.

We all know that Command & Conquer series has been a great game of all time. Created originally by Westwood Studio, this game went major changes after Electronic Art (EA) took over and shut down Westwood Studio. So we only know that Command & Conquer 1 and 2 were the only game that were still under Westwood Studio helm. But after that, it was EA who took that responsibility and created the sequel. It was skeptical at first but they did succeed when they launch Command & Conquer 3: Tiberian War and later the expansion Kane's Wrath. But Command & Conquer 4 is the silent death of Command & Conquer series. Even fans felt that this game is the worst in its series. The cheesy FMV and the technical issue will dissuade fans from buying this game.

The story started when Kane returned by bringing the tacitus after 10 years from the event on Kane's Wrath. Strangely, his first action after his return was to go to the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) Headquarter and tell them that he found a way to give mankind a second chance to live on earth by controlling the Tiberian. However, due to the long period of war that rage almost a few centuries ago and the anti-trust between each other; it spawn the fourth Tiberian war amongst these two faction, NOD and GDI. The rest is up to you to find out how the stories goes between these two faction IF you buy the game.

Anyway, straight to the game play. I realize that this new game try to imitate the Commander style system that had been introduced by Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. These commander system is known as Crawler. Different from any Command & Conquer predecessor, this game totally eliminate the resource gathering function and only use command point. These Crawlers are divided into three major classes - Offense, Defense and Support. Offense mode offer a wide variety of heavy offense armory including tanks and mech. Defense however focus on infantry support and base defense. Lastly, the Support Crawler are more focus on air support and base repairs. So every mission in the single player campaign will let you choose which Crawler is the best to use in certain situation. You also will need to capture node in order to increase the command point and deploy more Crawler.

I will not emphasize more on the storyline as it is brief and really had a weak storyline. Even the graphic were not that improve than its recent former predecessor. But the concept is really fresh but I think too rush in production value. In order to unlock powerful unit (especially when playing multi-player), you will need to be level up constantly. This limit the ability to build powerful unit if you are up against more veteran player online. And the stupid anti-piracy system will need you to always be online. When you think about it in place like in Brunei Darussalam, you will always be disconnected every 15 minutes. In other words, your experience will be disrupted and it can get annoying.

Conclusion - Although there is a lot of flaw in this new game but nevertheless it got a few perks of its own such as bigger unit and better control. Even it can be quite challenging if you are playing online. But the constant internet connection and the slow level up to unlock powerful unit will make you crazy (in a bad way that is). If you need to find another RTS, please buy StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty instead. But if you are a fan of Command & Conquer franchise, then this game is for you to play during the weekend. You will get bored (trust me).

Sunday, 8^th August 2010 - A few days ago, held a farewell function at Mamih Restaurant for the former Ward 19 staffs at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital in Bandar Seri Begawan. Most of the staff are consist of Head of nurses and some of the nurses who were transfer to other places including my love one, Rinah. This farewell party was to appreciate the former staffs not just a former colleague but as good friends. I can see that that Ward 19 is like a big happy family. Anyway, the event were filled with a few surprises including mystery prize winner. My love Rinah receive a prize for the most cutest that night. Unluckily, I did not win any prize (not cute enough, hehe) but I did manage to get a nice present by them for becoming their official photographer that night. Thank you.

5 more days - Not much to update as life is very quiet lately. First of all, a big congratulation to my cousin Aziz for his graduation and getting his degree. On the gaming side, I am returning playing on my PC as my second Xbox 360 finally breakdown (the 3 Dreaded Rings of Light). I already fix it once and it cost me B$150 to fix it and only work for a month. My PlayStation 3 is still working great although I bought both console at the same date. So I will not review any Xbox 360 video game for a while especially when Halo Reach is on the horizon. In other words, buy a high end PC if you can afford to buy or a PlayStation 3. DO NOT BUY AN XBOX 360! It is not worth your long term investment.

There is a lot of changes at the office. A new personnel has reporting for duty last week. And then there is our Internet. It seems that EGNC has block and filter a lot of website including my favorite website, Gamespot and IGN. They even block Photobucket and Flickr. Unluckily they have not block Blogger and Wordpress since their action was to stop Government employee to stop surfing and start working. So if you have ministry or department and connected to EGNC, then you will have trouble seeing some of my pictures in this blog. But if you are connecting using other network such as eSpeed, then it will be fine. Unluckily, this action will only remove the purpose of 'sharing information and resource gathering' and will only make Government employee to use other method of surfing such as wireless broadband or even worse not using the Internet at all and spend time at the coffee shop instead.

This Ramadhan season, we will still continue the tradition that had been pass down by my friend Azrol. We will still go to other district for 'sungkai' (and our favorite destination is Kuala Belait). And this Ramadhan season and the upcoming Hari Raya, I am happy to say that I will spend my time with someone I really love and hold dearly.

PC Review - This one shall stand and the rest can fall. That is what I think about this game. It is a fun video game and the storyline is original and really great. Reminds me of the PlayStation 2 game, Transformers: Armada (that was the best Transformers game for me). Although there are certain minor bugs and controller issue (PC) but nevertheless this would not effect your whole experience. This game brings back to the Civil War between the Autobot and the Decepticon. A prologue before the actual event that happen in Transformers: Generation 1.

Warning! Spoiler! - The story started when Cybertron fell into war and uprising by the Decepticon led by Megatron himself. In order to give the Decepticon the edge to win the war, he seek an ancient weapon of mass destruction called Dark Energon that was guarded by the Autobot sky commander, Starscream (yeah, I did not know that he was so treacherous before). After gaining the Dark Energon, the Decepticon were fused with Dark Energon and were upgraded into the ultimate war machine. Megatron then decided to fuse the Dark Energon into the core of Cybertron. But in order to do that he would need the Omega Key. A secret key that are kept by the leader of the Autobot, Zeta Prime. After succeeded in gaining the key and defeating Omega Supreme, the Decepticon kidnapped Zeta Prime. Meanwhile after Zeta Prime defeat by Megatron, news about Zeta Prime demise were spreading and Optimus carry the temporary command to kept the Autobot morale intake. But all was too late for Zeta Prime when they rescue him. The Autobot council then appointed Optimus to be a Prime as he were destined to led the Autobot and ask to remove the Dark Energon from the core before it is too late. So will they succeed in time? That you will have to find out.

At the first start of the campaign, you can choose which path you wanted to take, the good guy Autobot or the evil menace Decepticon. But this campaign started with a chapters in which you will have to play the Decepticon campaign first in order to find out the storyline. But I love the characters on this new game especially the classic characters such as Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Iron Hide, Starscream, Soundwave, Brawl, Sideswipe and especially those Autobot sky commander, Jetfire and Silverbolt (I had Silverbolt toy when I was a kid). You can transform into vehicle easily and vice versa according to the stage requirement (you will not want a tank in a flying mission would you?). Luckily for Megatron and Soundwave that they turn into a pistol or a cassette recorder in this game as it will be so lame, LOL.

The gameplay is simple. Shoot and make your way to each level and survive the battle. There are certain puzzle that you need to solve especially in the boss battle. The battle is great, it felt like those Call of Duty: Modern Warfare guys in a robot suit (intense battle). But some of the level are so lame such as when riding a slug (vehicle mode) and shoot everything in your path. But I do love the flying mission (if I were using a controller that is). You will have to dodge missile and fly inside different trenches and canyon (felt like Star Wars). And the boss battle is superb but unluckily too easy for me. The only hardest part of the battle was the conservation of ammo and which type of weapon to use during an assault. So choose you characters wisely in a certain mission. It will give you a difference and the edge especially against those flying robot menace.

This game suffers minor issues especially with control. There are certain issues where your bot would land on another bot and it is dangerous when in a stage that require you to jump from another platform. It also suffer control problem on the PC when using a mouse and keyboard. It just plain too hard to control when in vehicle mode. You have to drive or fly using your mouse instead of the keyboard. But that issue can be overcome when you use a controller instead.

Conclusion - Nevertheless, this game is a great game. The graphic are superb using the Unreal Engine and the atmosphere shows the dark and gloomy world of Cybertron that are torn apart by civil war. And the storyline is even better that expected. It create the world before the Autobot and Decepticon landed on earth a few thousands year later and that are depicted on the Transformers: Generation 1. Buy this game and you will not be disappointed. Roll out.

Movie Review - What if you have the ability to enter someone dream and plant a memory something that non-existent in the real world. Confused? Yes at first but later in this movie, it was a superb roller-coaster ride. This is a masterpiece from the person who produced Batman: The Dark Knight. Yes, it was a surprise that Christopher Nolan created another yet surprising superb movie. How good was this movie?

The story started when Dominic (Leonardo DiCaprio) was stranded in a beach. He was drag by security forces to a very big Japanese mansion and met with a known associates named Saito (Ken Wattanabe). Then the movie shift to an earlier time where Dominic and Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) were trying to persuade Saito to reveal his deep inner secret which are kept inside a secure vault. But they failed and where find out by Saito. It was revealed that they were actually dreaming inside another layer of dream. When the both of them tried to flee, they were caught by Saito. In exchange for Dominic's freedom, Saito wanted them to do a job by implementing a memory into his competitor's son named Fisher. So how will they going to succeed in their mission is up to you to find out.

What I really love about this movie is the concept of the storyline. Something that never been done before. It is like life in another life. Much like The Matrix where nothing is really real or is it? We always dream about something and sometimes believing in it. But the reality of a dream is that it is not real. It is just a fragment of of memory from an unconscious state of mind. But in this movie, they created the dream. Structure it according to their needs and creating an imagination that is wild but similar.

Although this is a sci-fi movie, so I really do not know how they can connect each other in a dream. But in this movie they use some sort of secret device that had been used by the military before to train soldiers. But this device need specific requirement, an architect. An architect which specialize in creating a world of dream. The only rules that they need to abide is not to create something from recent memories or attachment to something. Else the consequences will disastrous and the subconscious (in a form of humans) will rebel against the architect. Even in dream, these 'dreamer' can get hurt and when they die, they will wake up instead. So it is necessary for them to work together so that no one will make the simplest mistake.

So the mission is simple. Gather special type of people who had the ability to manipulate dream. First they need to gather an architect, a forger and a chemist while Dominic is an extractor and Arthur is a point man. The only group member who is out of place is Saito, the tourist. Anyway this movie is about human emotion and personal conflict. It is more focus on the conflict of Dominic after losing his wife. His conflict causes the team to jeopardize his mission. So if he wanted this mission to succeed while saving a friend's life, he must first overcome his own dark conflict.

Interestingly, this movie is not all CGI theme movie. The only CGI that has been done was the creation and destruction of building. Other than that, it is mostly done by stage FX. I was surprised at first too, but when I watched the making of this movie; I was truly impressed. Even the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer was really memorable (reminds me of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare). It is dark and atmospheric ambient sound really suit the movie very well.

Conclusion - This is the best movie that Christopher Nolan had ever been produced since Batman: The Dark Knight. The cast were great and the storyline were even greater. Something that is out of the ordinary and something that is really disturbing at the same time. Disturbing as in 'what if it is a possibility that we can enter someone dream?' But don't worry, a dream will always be a dream. But the reality is that this movie is really ROCK!

Coming Soon - Surprise? Well not really. It had been a long dream of fans for Tekken and Street Fighter to crossover just like Capcom vs SNK. Although it looks like this game will be using Street Fighter engine rather than the Tekken own engine but it looks really promising. I wonder if they have combos and the super finishing move on this game. And I can already imagine M. Bison kicking Heihachi's butt, Chun Li against Lei Fang and Marshall Law fighting Fei-Long. PC Review - It had been a few days since my Xbox 360 got its second 3 Red Lights of Death. This is my second Xbox 360 and I already fixed it once and cost me B$150. Unluckily, it was broken during the time when I was playing this new exciting game by Raven Software and distributed by Activision. It was called Singularity. For all fans of CoD: Modern Warfare who is currently waiting for CoD: Black Ops, Singularity is all too familiar but with a horror sci-fi flicks on its label. Here is what I think about this new game.

The story started 55 years after the Cold War. An American satellite detected an unusual radiation signature on an island in Katorga, an abandoned Soviet military station. The island itself was mysterious and was seriously cover up by the Soviets. Then Black Ops operative went to Katorga to investigate the mysterious occurrences. But suddenly a sudden burst of EMP bought down their helicopters and sound a lone soldier named Renko found himself in the dock, injured and half shocked. Later, in the game it turned out that the resident of Katorga-12 were not dead but became something else. Not just that, Renko found himself shifting between 1955 and 2010. He also save a man named Demichev in 1955, in which strangely later back in the future wanted to kill Renko but was saved by a woman. The rest is up to you to find out.

At first, I thought this game will be like another F.E.A.R or Doom 3 cliche. But when I played it; it was more like Half-Life 2 and Dead Space. You will fight against different type of mutants who are exposed to the radiation of the element 'E99'. These mutants have different type of special ability (and some will annoy you very much). But the scare factor were not that big deal in this game. You might have a few adrenaline rush but nothing compared to Resident Evil or Dead Space. Even the boss battle is laughable. I felt this is the easiest game I ever encountered and I finished it in just below 48 hours.

The best feature in this game is the 'TMD'. Short form for Time Manipulation Device. I can age human and monster or make monster go slow. I even can 'force push' enemy away. You can even age stage objects that are exposed to the 'E99' element and likewise. Another element of this game that I really love is the weaponry. There are a few weapons that reminds me of James Bond video game multi-player on the PlayStation 2. And there are a few mini RPG element in this game. You can upgrade your weaponry or even upgrade your perks (reminds me of Fallout 3). In certain levels, you also need to solve puzzle in order to proceed to the next checkpoints. And most of this puzzle is involving using the 'TMD'.
